Our Heritage

On the banks of the Neman River, among the forests of what is today Belarus’s Lida district, a small glass furnace fired its first batch of green glass bottles in 1883. It was leased from a local landowner by two men: Juliusz Stolle, heir to a Bohemian dynasty of glassmakers, and his partner Wilhelm Krajewski. Neither could have known that within a few decades their forest furnace would grow into a manufactory whose crystal was sold in London, Paris and New York — and that the settlement built around it would one day lend its name to an entire town.
What We Believe
Every masterpiece follows the same path. Fire. Human hands. Glass. Light. For almost one hundred and fifty years, this journey has remained unchanged.
Fire
Every masterpiece begins with fire. It transforms raw material into possibility and marks the beginning of every work created at Neman. Fire has remained the first step for almost one hundred and fifty years.
Hand
Machines create products. Hands create masterpieces. Each movement carries the experience accumulated by generations of craftsmen who dedicated their lives to this art.
Glass
Glass remembers every stage of its creation. It preserves the warmth of fire, the breath of the master and the character of the material itself.
Light
Light completes every masterpiece. Only through light do crystal and glass reveal their depth, brilliance and true character.
We Continue the Story
Every masterpiece created today is connected to nearly one hundred and fifty years of craftsmanship. Behind every object stand generations of glassblowers, engravers, artists, engineers and craftsmen whose knowledge continues to live through every new creation. We do not begin this story. We continue it. For us, glass is not simply a material. It is the memory of human hands.

Masters of the Works
The people whose hands turn glass and crystal into a work of art
Zidan Samekh AliMuhammad
Glass and Glassware Grinder, Grade 7
“I am very glad to be part of the Neman Glassworks. I feel I have grown a great deal in my craft, because I have loved crystal since childhood. My dream was to work here, with you. I feel part of a large family — the Belarusian people. Wonderful, kind people live here, who accept and respect everyone. And that makes me truly happy.”
Ramil Myazitov
Glass and Glassware Grinder, Grade 7
“I am grateful to fate that for more than 36 years I have worked at the legendary Neman Works, rich in history and master craftsmen. In that time I have managed to raise the level of engraving at the works to a world-class standard. Yet perfection has no limit. My students and colleagues and I will keep delighting connoisseurs of beauty with new work.”
Yevgeniy Latushko
Glass and Glassware Grinder, Grade 7
“Engraving is a rare and refined craft. I tried it at home — and it worked. Once every glass in the house was decorated, I showed my work to management and was invited into the experimental workshop. I've worked there for several years now, and haven't regretted a single day. In this craft, technique alone isn't enough — you need an emotional feel for the piece, especially when working with Belarusian themes. Storks, bison — every detail demands attention.”
